How will my donation help?
This fundraise will help in procuring 2,500 CPAP machines and 500 Oxygen Concentrators, both of which help patients with breathing difficulties stabilize in the crucial hours before they get better, or are directed to more elaborate care. Currently, faced with acute shortage of breathing aids, those with dipping oxygen levels are deteriorating rapidly.
The 2,500 CPAP machines and the 500 Oxygen concentrators would cost $2 million and $1 million respectively. With the $1 million raised from IITM alumni through this 48 hour fundraiser, we will continue to work with matching donors to potentially reach $3 million.

Assuming we complete the fundraise in the next few days, IITM will receive these devices (ETA May 15); and the IITM Office of Alumni Relations (OAR) will be responsible for the distribution working closely with Siddique to oversee the utilization of these devices.
What are CPAP and Oxygen Concentrators?
These are devices that help patients breathe.
Are these meant for Chennai only, or throughout India - Bangalore, Hyderabad, other areas that have a dire need?
The initial set will be deployed in Chennai, and since these devices are reusable, the idea is to have IIT Madras oversee the utilization of these devices in other cities and states where there is a need.
In what form can I donate?
The funds need is urgent, and we recommend either Credit Card for amounts <$1000, and Wire Transfer for any amounts greater than $1000. You can use other means and we will continue to send funds to IITM to help the community.
Are there any fees?
There are no fees other than any Card Processing or Wire Processing fees. All funds will directly go to the COVID-19 cause.
