Kerala, the God's own country, known for its splendid natural beauty has been badly hit by the Southwest monsoon that brought in 255% more rains this year. The gravity of the situation can be realized by noting that all 14 districts in the state had been put on red alert at least twice over the past two weeks. The havoc wrecked by flash floods along with severe landslides has costed nearly 400 lives and extensive damage to property, livestock and the livelihood of people.
