We are proud to announce the inauguration of the "IIT Madras Thought Leadership Lectures" featuring prominent alumni sharing their insight and experience on topics of current interest. We are aiming for a good mix of practical and academically oriented talks covering multiple disciplines, and hope that these events will give alums an opportunity to learn, engage and network.
We are privileged to have Suresh Kumar (B.Tech. Civil 1981) deliver the first lecture in this series: "Will Blockchain be as Revolutionary as the Internet?". As the former Global CIO of BNY Mellon, Suresh will share with us his personal experience in addressing strategic and tactical issues surrounding the blockchain, and help us better understand this potentially transformative technology. The lecture will be followed by a Q&A.
Suresh was a member of BNY Mellon’s Executive Committee, the organization’s most senior management body, and led 13,000 technology professionals that made BNY Mellon the industry leader in delivering innovative and exceptional technology solutions. In recognition of his contributions, he was inducted into the CIO Hall of Fame by CIO magazine in 2016. Suresh has also served on various industry committees such as FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) Technology Advisory Committee, DTCC (The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation) Technology Advisory Boards, the Technology Management Committee of SIFMA (Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association), and on Stevens Institute of Technology and Pace University Advisory Boards.
In addition to his B.Tech from IITM, Suresh has an MBA from IIM, Ahmedabad and a M.S. in Computer Science from NY Institute of Technology.
Please join us in making this inaugural lecture a grand success. We look forward to your enthusiastic participation.
